A comprehensive community involvement program has been implemented for the project. This program has been developed to ensure ongoing opportunities for community involvement in the project and includes a toll free number (1800 63 63 63) and this website (see Contact us page). Community involvement activities have included the following:
Community information sessions
Seven open information sessions were held at various locations throughout the Coffs Harbour local government area during October and November 2001. The purpose of these sessions was to introduce key members of the project team, describe the project, detail the way in which it was to be conducted and provide an opportunity for people to obtain information and provide comments.
To view community information session notes, download the pdf file on the Public information section of this website.
Community newsletters / community updates
Community newsletters and updates have been distributed during the development of the project. Copies are available by contacting the toll free number (1800 63 63 63) or by downloading the PDF files on the Public information section of this website.
Advertisements
Newspaper advertisements were placed in local newspapers to notify the communities of important project activities.
Information and displays
At important milestones in the project's development, information has been displayed for community comment.
To view the information displays, download the pdf files on the Public information section of this website.
Community focus groups
Two community focus groups were formed for the Sapphire to Woolgoolga upgrade project - one to represent community interests at the Woolgoolga end of the study area (northern group) and the other to represent community interests at the Sapphire end (southern group). Depending on the stage of project development, some combined meetings of the groups have been held.
As each group meeting was held, meeting notes were posted onto the Public information page of this website.
Southern (Coffs Harbour) section
In response to requests from people in the southern section of the strategy area, a Coffs Harbour focus group was formed early in 2002. Notes of the focus group meetings have been posted onto the Coffs Harbour Highway Planning website.
